Parshat Lech Lecha
A collection of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's talks on various topics. In this week's Torah reading, G-d promises the patriarch Abraham that "I will give your seed this land", a complete land. The matter hinges on the Rebbe's, the King Moshiach's holy paving the way.

The place where one sits during prayer time
In 5742 (1982) a pamphlet was put out discussing where the Lubavitcher Rebbe sits during prayer time and its relevancy after prayer. In the following talk, the Lubavitcher Rebbe addresses the matter and "allows" for such a thing in a most interesting way.
"Being that a person's will is his honor, then his will is to sit in such a place, in order that the place should be further utilized for Torah study."

A complete land: They are repeating the same mistake over and over again!!!
Why must one always do things without common sense? Everyone knows what happened repeatedly when in the past concessions were made to the Arabs. Why then continue with such policies? The following is part of one of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's talks regarding the complete Land of Israel.
The grave situation we find ourselves in now is a result of the Camp David Accords, i.e. they allowed Egypt to form its border alongside ours. Now they want to continue doing the same on the other borders of the Land of Israel, the Torah should save us!"

The virtue of the precept of circumcision over the other precepts.
In regards to the commandment of circumcision which is found in the Torah portion of this week, which forms a pact between the Jewish nation and G-d, we would like to show a segment of a talk explaining the attributes and special qualities of this most basic precept.
"When the baby is only 8 days old, not having any understanding at all, the Torah places the obligation of circumcision on him, because the whole idea of circumcision is for the physical body to form a pact between itself and G-d."

The week which starts with the 7th day of Cheshvan is when
Emphasis is placed on love of another Jew (just because he/she is Jewish) and Jewish unity. The Jews used to wait for the last one who made pilgrimage to Jerusalem to return home to the banks of the Euphrates River being, thoughtful of the long trip, regardless of the vital importance of rain, and only then would begin beseeching G-d for rain.
"Nevertheless, Jewish unity is emphasized in such a situation, as we see in the evening prayer on the eve of the 7th of Cheshvan, when the entire Jewish nation is concerned "for the last Jew" that rain shouldn't stop him (along the way), and therefore everyone postphones their request for rain for 15 days!"
