How long do we have to wait? Long live the king! |
We’re screaming for ten years! How long do we have to wait? We still didn’t bring Moshiach yet? On the 28th day of Nissan, 5751 (1991), after the evening prayer services, the Lubavitcher Rebbe delivered a talk (sicha) to the Lubavitcher Chassidim. In this historic talk, the Lubavitcher Rebbe screamed from the depths of his heart, saying how can the current exile we are in continue. “…Didn’t we already bring the Moshiach? Ten Jews get together and don’t make a fuss that the Moshiach should come immediately? It wouldn’t even bother them if Moshiach wouldn’t come tonight…!” The Lubavitcher Rebbe demanded of everyone “to do everything in one’s power to bring Moshiach, the righteous one immediately, literally…!” Ten years have passed since that talk on that momentous night and we are still in exile. How long? “The Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Treasury” is about to present a number of links regarding the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s proclamation into the dark exile, “How long”? We fervently pray and hope to Hashem (G-d) “…that the complete redemption should materialize immediately, literally… while being truly happy and experiencing a gladness of heart…!!!” |
A worthy and meritorious day for redemption
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, at the onset of the talk, explained how the 28th day of Nissan is a worthy and meritorious day for redemption.
“The numerical value of 28, kaf-chet, looks like the word in Hebrew for strength, koach, in the month of Nissan, the month of redemption. Simply speaking, special emphasis is placed on the day itself as offering strength to actualize the redemption, literally…” |

If we were to really mean what we scream
During the course of the talk, the Lubavitcher Rebbe demanded of everyone to scream from the bottom of the heart to actualize the revelation of Moshiach.
“If we were to really mean what we scream, then certainly Moshiach would have been here already!” |

Turn the world upside down – the Holy Temple is destroyed.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe explained that any day the Holy Temple isn’t built in that generation, the Torah considers it as if that generation destroyed it on that day.
“If a Jew were to see right now the destruction and burning of the Holy Temple, even if “his heart were made of stone”, he would turn the world upside down. The Torah tells us then, in such circumstances, “Turn the world upside down, today!!!” |

Don’t try to cool off someone else!
There are, unfortunately, people who are trying to cool off those involved in trying to bring the Moshiach, and those just with pure, simple faith.
“Since, at the end of the exile, it’s so vital to scream out “How long”?, consequently the other side (of impurity) opposes.” |

Everyone should turn the world upside down!
It’s so important and necessary to mobilize everyone to turn the world upside down to bring forth the redemption.
“See for yourself: If there was such a dire need for Moshiach to come in Moses’ time, then certainly in our time, in the midst of the exile when countries are inciting each other, do we need Moshiach to come right away – immediately!!!” |

What does “Ad Matai” (in Hebrew – “how long”) mean?
At one farbrengen (Chassidic get-together) the Lubavitcher Rebbe addressed the topic of people looking for a source for everything in Torah that they hear. The proclamation of “Ad Matai” (in Hebrew – “how long”) began in the time of Eliyahu the Prophet.
“…They should ask a 5 year old child who learns Chumash (the written Torah) what does “Ad Matai” mean. Is it just a narration of something, advice, or a request? What they will hear from him is that it’s a demand with astounding intensity!” |

“How long” (do we have to wait)? “Long live the king”!
The upcoming link demonstrates the connection between the two proclamations of How long? and Long live the king!
