The holiday of Shavuot – The day when G-d gave us the Torah
On the holiday of Shavuot, the 6th day of the month of Sivan, 3313 years ago, the entire Jewish nation received the Torah on Mount Sinai and heard the Ten commandments from G-d Himself.

               Where should we go with our children on Shavuot?
“G-d said to the Jewish nation, “Read this chapter every year, and I will attribute it as if you are standing before Mount Sinai and receiving the Torah.”
“Therefore, it’s extremely important that when we read the Ten Commandments in the synagogue, the entire Jewish nation should be present, especially children, for in their merit, the Torah was given and is now being given to the entire Jewish nation. The Midrash relates that the Torah was (initially) given when the Jews said, “Our children will be our guarantors.”

               The women were first.
About to be presented is a talk given by the Lubavitcher Rebbe commemorating the holiday of Shavuot.

“The lofty nature of women is especially emphasized on the day when G-d gave the Torah.”

               The holiday of Shavuot and Moshiach’s coming.
The day we receive the Torah is an auspicious time to beseech G-d to put and end to the exile.

“….We can relate the aforementioned (the numerical value of “nami lachem” is the same as “ketz” - end) to the demise of King David on the holiday of Shavuot. It’s known that on a righteous person’s day of demise, he accomplishes miracles on our physical plain.
Therefore, it’s understood, that on the holiday of Shavuot, there is an unusually special divine flow having to do with the idea of the Moshiach, King David, i.e. an auspicious time for the end of the exile, and the beginning of true and the complete redemption.”

               The three world’s giants
The holiday of Shavuot has direct relevance to the three giants of the world. They are:

*Moshe Rabeinu (Moses), who received the Torah on the holiday of Shavuot.
* King David
* The Baal Shem Tov
All three of them departed from this world on the same day, on Shavuot. What does this have to do with us?
“…Consequently, it’s understood, that in addition to learning Torah, which has to do with Moses, the holiday is an auspicious time to make decisions that have to do with King David, such as saying Tehilim (Psalms), King David’s book, referred to as a book that’s pleasant to say praises to G-d. In addition, one should make other good decisions that have to do with the coming of the Moshiach King David, who will “fight G-d’s war and will be victorious, and all other signs that will identify him conclusively as the Moshiach, as outlined by the Rambam.
The same principle would apply to the Baal Shem Tov, beginning with the axiom of “disseminating the wellsprings of Chassidut everywhere”, thereby hastening the coming of the Moshiach King David…”
